Love was in the air at Hanzell Farm and Vineyard! I had the honor of capturing the proposal of Michael and Gabby. If you haven’t been to Hanzell, I highly recommend it. The views there are unmatched. You can see the gorgeous valley and all the vineyards lining the hills. It was truly breathtaking! Their service was top-notch – they took every extra step to be sure Michael and Gabby were well taken care of for their big day. Even as the photographer, they helped me with everything I needed, too.
The day started with an early arrival. I wanted to be there before Michael and Gabby. Michael took care of all the details and reserved the private veranda for their tasting. Luckily for me, there was a closet/office space that was unoccupied the day of their tasting so I was able to hang out in there until they arrived.
It is very important for things like a photographer at your proposal to go well… we’re talking REALLY well. You don’t want to give the surprise away. I make a point to look at locations before an event. I want to know where I can hide, where we can take some portraits, and how to time the lighting as best as possible.
The plan was for Michael to “go to the restroom” to notify me that he was minutes away from popping the question. Everything worked out PERFECTLY! I got into position and captured the sweetest, most private and intimate, proposal. Gabby was SHOCKED!
Let this be the push you need to hire a proposal photographer! If you know your friend is about to be proposed to, this is an amazing gift to them. OR, tell the groom-to-be that this is non-negotiable!! LOL!
